Frequently Asked Questions

Helping you with all of your air conditioning needs

Need help with choosing your new air conditioning system? Please read the answers to the common questions we're asked below. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch for answers to any other questions you may have:

  • Single split system
A single split air conditioning system, also known as a high wall or wall-mounted unit, consists of an indoor unit (fan coil) and an outdoor unit (condenser). It is the most popular type of residential air conditioner due to its ease of installation and it doesn’t require ductwork. This system is ideal for smaller homes because they are typically offered at an affordable price and are non-invasive – having the ability to be installed on any wall.

  • Window or wall air conditioners
These systems are perfect for controlling the temperature in a single room or a small confined space. They are typically more affordable than split systems, and come with a range of features (such as timers, remote controls & air ionizers) which make them a great choice for cooling your home.

  • Multi Split systems
Similarly to a single split system, multi split systems are comprised of an outdoor AC unit which connects to indoor units. The difference is that this system can connect to two or more indoor units, and has the ability to regulate different temperatures and airflows between these units. This means that users in different rooms have the advantage of setting their temperature without affecting the temperature in the other rooms.

  • Portable Air Conditioning
If you’re looking for a standalone AC unit, a portable AC unit may be the right choice for you. Portable AC units work by taking in air from outside (typically via a window), cycling the cold air and dispensing hot air outside.

  • Ducted air conditioning
A ducted air conditioning system requires ducts to run through the buildings walls and ceiling, so it’s typically recommended for houses that have not yet been built, and not recommended for small homes or apartments.

When purchasing an AC system, there are several factors to consider to ensure that you get the most value for your money.

  • Features
One important factor to consider is the features of the AC unit, such as modes (cooling only or cooling and heating), de-icing, noise reduction, fan speeds, Wi-Fi smart device connectivity, sleep function, and self-cleaning mode.

  • Price
You should compare the prices of different AC units, taking into account factors like performance, specifications, after-sales service feedback, customer reviews, etc. Most importantly, make sure to consider your budget before making an informed decision.

  • Size
There is no one-size-fits-all unit, so it's best to consult with a licensed air conditioning contractor to determine the right size for your space. Factors that will be taken into consideration include ceiling height, insulation, window size, level of sunlight, and more.

It’s generally recommended that you service your air conditioning system at least once a year. Ideally, this should be done before the peak summer season when the demand for cooling is the highest.
